Vaison-la-Romaine
I've called Vaison-la-Romaine home for about fifteen years, and it suits me perfectly. This town is rich in history, spanning from the Bronze Age and pre-Roman Celtic tribes to the Romans, the Dark Ages, the medieval period, and the Napoleonic era.
My courses run from Wednesday to Saturday by design—this allows you to experience the historic gold star Tuesday morning market. Vaison is home to incredible historical sites, including well-preserved Roman ruins, a two-thousand-year-old Roman bridge, a Roman theatre still in use today, a cathedral and church over a thousand years old, and a charming medieval town complete with cobbled streets and castle.
With such attractions, Vaison naturally draws visitors, bringing a variety of excellent restaurants and shops around the central square, along with accommodations to suit different budgets. My home and workshop are just an eight-minute walk from the center, with convenient parking nearby. I also have a spacious terrace for relaxing and a large garden that extends down to the river.
Beyond Vaison, we are surrounded by the stunning wine villages of the Southern Rhône and within easy reach of larger towns such as Orange, Avignon, Nîmes, Aix-en-Provence, Arles, and Marseille—each with its own unique history and character. And for those looking to explore further, Paris is just 2.5 hours away by TGV.
